Hey gang, just thought I’d update you on my progress so far.

Food. Since reaching my goal last Saturday, things have been going fantastic. In fact, today is the first day I didn’t use my Weight Watchers Points Excel chart since I created the thing. I’ve decided to stop using it since after over two years, I pretty much know how many Points are in everything I eat, or I just simply avoid the things I know I shouldn’t be eating. I’m keeping my snacking to a minimum and whenever I feel the urge to munch on something, I grab a bottle of water instead or have one cookie rather than a handful.

Weight. My weight has been right around 199.8 lbs. and 201 lbs. and that’s just fine with me. I may have gone as high as 202 lbs. but as long as I don’t drift any higher than that I think I’ll be fine. As previously stated, I plan on getting down to 190 lbs. or so that I have some wiggle room between that and my original goal of 200 lbs. but for now, I’m happy being able to maintain my goal weight.

Exercise. Aside from some walking and running around I did with the kid at Disneyland, my exercise routine has been put aside since reaching my goal. My Wii Fit may start missing me 🙂 No, I’m not getting lazy; I’m simply enjoying my achievement and being able to finally take it easy at night after putting Anthony to bed. And because I took Friday and Monday off from work, I haven’t walked my daily 1.5 miles during lunch. That will change tomorrow when I return.

It seems as though my years of food discipline have truly paid off as I find myself not wanting a lot of the foods I used to eat or eating much less of them. For example, we had Little Caesar’s today for lunch and I had only two slices. That’s it–two slices versus the usual 3 or 4 I would have eating when I was nearly 300 lbs.

And for what it’s worth, here’s a progress picture of me taken at Disneyland the day I reached my goal:

199.9 lbs.

Finally: 199.9 lbs. Click to enlarge.

It may not show the best example of my weight loss but hey, at least it was taken on the day of victory.

In addition to all of this, I’ve decided to abandon the Weekly Weigh-Ins simply because there wouldn’t be much to report if I keep maintaining my weight. I’ll definitely keep watching my weight and will report as needed but for now, they are history.

Once again, thanks to all who have been checking in on things. I am still in the process of getting my products Thank You List together so watch for that soon.

See ya, and hang in there!

  1. Sounds like a great maintenance plan! You can always pull out the calculator/sparedsheet if your weight sneaks up a pound or two (that’s what I do).

Thanks. I get the feeling I will be just fine doing that. So far I haven’t felt the need to since the scale has been in my favor 🙂 But I haven’t deleted those Excel charts from my thumb drive just yet!

  2. You will completely appreciate this.

I’ve been not-watching since the end of August due to stress, life, birthday, etc etc.

I was at the doctor’s last night for a routine and I hop on the scale expecting to have gained most of my 17 lbs back. Turns out…I’m the same. SAME!

Either 1) I’ve cultivated much better habits than I thought or 2) God has absolved me of my eating sins over the last 6 weeks. No offense to the Big Guy, but I’m going with number 1.

So I’m back on track. I divided up some veggies into baggies at lunch and had grapes for a snack.

Way to go you!! (And pumpkin-chick’s pretty creepy)

Way to go *me*? I think some recognition is in order for you as well! That definitely shows a change in attitude towards food much like what I mentioned in this post. And I know what you mean about “gaining back” those phantom pounds. When I was stuck at 204 it felt like I was back at 240. Really strange.

Veggies = good. Grapes = gooder (in my book!). In fact, I packed a 2-cup container of the things today. The snacking hour will be upon me very soon.

And no picking on my girlfriend there, okay? She’s very sensitive 🙂

  3. Hey Dave — just a random person surfing around looking for some info on the Wii Fit and your site popped up. I ended up poking around for about a half hour reading various posts and seeing your progress. Absolutely inspiring to see the will-power born from the urge to take better care of yourself and your family. Congratulations on making your goal… you should be very, very proud.

Thanks so much, Christopher. As I’ve told a few people already, all it takes it the willingness to find that switch and turn it on whereas many people remain content stumbling around in the darkness. I simply refused to do that as is evident by what you’ve seen here 🙂 I hope the blog gave you the Wii Fit information you were looking for. I loved using the thing even if it was only a portion of my plan (next to walking and proper diet) and for now, it’s collecting dust as I spend my evenings doing some well-deserved relaxing! Thanks again for stopping by and reading. I hope my blog continues to be an inspiration to anybody who happens to find it, no matter how they find it! In fact, a friend of mine read it and was so inspired that he plans on doing the same thing by his 41st birthday in 2010. What started out as an online journal has turned out to be a little more than I expected and I’m glad to have given people hope that they, too, can lose weight the right way!

  4. How can I find the spread sheet?
