It’s week 11! Let’s see how this one ends up.
Weekly Weigh-In for June 26, 2018 (Week 11): 232.8 lbs.
Loss/Gain for the week: -2.0 lbs.
Total lost: 12.0 lbs.
Weekly average loss (targeted goal: 1.14): 1.1 lbs.
Well, not too bad considering how last week was. I’m inching closer to the 220s and I’ve achieved a small victory: tightening up my belt another notch! Most people go by clothing size but if there’s ever a true indicator of the loss of belly fat, this is the one. And I’m pretty happy about that.
This week’s loss also gets me closer to my targeted weekly weight loss goal of 1.14 lbs.
Weekend exercise this week was just a bike ride:
Granted it was a 23-mile bike ride but it was enough. Saturday was definitely a lazy day for me and I worked around the house with the family.
So it looks like I’m getting there, slowly but surely, just like last time. And I apologize for my posts being a day late. My computer is probably on its last leg and incredibly slow to start and run, and sometimes I just get frustrated by it all and walk away. If it keeps up I’ll start to compost posts from my phone, something I have done with my personal blog but not here.
That’s it for this week. See you for Week 12 🙂
Weekly Weigh-In, Week 9

First off, I have to apologize for the typo in last week’s post title. It should have been Week 8 but I had written Week 7. Not like anybody noticed or anything. But I did change it so everything is all better now.
That said, let’s see what this week brings me.
Weekly Weigh-In for June 12, 2018: 234.2 lbs.
Loss/Gain for the week: -0.4 lbs.
Total lost: 10.6 lbs.
Weekly average loss: 1.2 lbs.
Well, it’s better than last week in which I lost 0.2 pounds. Either way, I’m still above the 1.14 pounds per week in order to reach my goal but not by a lot. As I long as I keep it in that zone then I’ll be fine.
At work, I rode an average of 3.36 miles a day during lunch. And here was the weekend.
Walking/running:
As you can see by the little notification at the top, this was my best time for a 10k walk/run this year, besting my previous mark by a good 10 minutes. That means I did a lot more running this time around which makes me happy. It may take 4 miles for me to finally get in a groove but it feels good to run again.
Cycling:
Another improvement: an increase of 1.75 miles over my longest ride this year. I’ve been spending a lot less time on the bike trail and more on city street just for a change because, frankly, I needed it. The trail is nice but there’s something to be said about getting lost in your own city and discovering so many “new” places.
I did that during lunch today and found parts of the city I didn’t know existed, which made for some great photographs. I’m a big fan of abandoning your car and seeing anyplace by foot — it just gives you a better perspective of everything around you, and who couldn’t use a few extra steps in a day, right?
So that’s it. I’ve got a few days off coming up to attend my son’s middle school graduation and to spend the first day of Summer Vacation with the family. Plus Father’s Day is on Sunday but we’re not exactly sure what were going to be doing. All I know is this week will be a challenge so let’s see how I end up next Tuesday.
Thanks for reading!
Weekly Weigh-In, Week 8

Another week has passed. Let’s see where I’m at, and I apologize for not posting this yesterday — I was just flat-out tired.
Weekly Weigh-In for June 5, 2018: 234.6 lbs.
Loss/Gain for the week: -0.2 lbs.
Total lost: 10.2 lbs.
Weekly average loss: 1.3 lbs.
As expected, this week’s numbers are nothing spectacular even if they resulted in a loss. I’m still above my targeted average weekly loss of 1.14 lbs., the number I have to stick to in order to lose those 50 lbs. by my 50th birthday.
After a week of not doing much at all, I finally got back in to the swing of things and woke up early on the weekend to do my walk and ride, which looked something like this.
Walking:
Cycling:
That’s a total of 25.89 miles of activity over the weekend which isn’t too bad considering how I felt the week before. If not for those activities, I can assure you that this week’s results would have been much different. I’m also back to riding during lunch while at work, averaging a modest 3.5 miles each day this week so far. Every little bit counts.
Oh, and this. I promised a picture so here it is.
Yes, I’m wearing black and yes, my arms are folded. But it’s the most current picture of me that I like so it’s what you get. I’ll try to get a better one this week. And I’ll say this much: at least my face is looking a little thinner when compared to this post.
So it looks like things are continuing to slowly go in the direction I want them to and at the pace I anticipated. I’m happy about that but there’s still a lot of work to be done. I’m inching closer to the 220s, someplace I haven’t been in a long time, so it’s time to get my resistance up and avoid any absolutely, completely unnecessary eating or snacking!
That’s all for this week. We’ll see what happens next week! Thanks again for reading.
Weekly Weigh-In, Week 7

Hope you all enjoyed the extended weekend. I’m a little off today because of it but I’ll manage to make through this shortened work week 🙂
Now let’s take a look at this week’s results.
Weekly Weigh-In for May 29, 2018: 234.8 lbs.
Loss/Gain for the week: -1.8 lbs.
Total lost: 10.0 lbs.
Weekly average loss: 1.4 lbs.
Alright, so it appears I have reached a milestone here: 10 pounds lost since starting on April 10, 2018. But that comes with an asterisk.
As I mentioned on my previous post, I wasn’t feeling that well and instead of going for my daily 3-mile bike ride during lunch, I simply rode over to the parking garage and took a nap for about 40 minutes. That means very little exercise during the week and not doing anything this past weekend.
Whatever it was (allergies, possible cold, etc.), it got a hold of me and didn’t really let go until Friday. Granted I was well enough to eat but doing just about anything was a real chore and with someone on vacation at the office, I was doing double duty and refused to take a day off since I didn’t feel the need to. It was just a blah week.
So the drop of 1.8 pounds could be attributed to my being sick and I wouldn’t be surprised if next week’s results are much higher. I did have my share of food on Memorial Day, though.
But as of now, aside from a slight headache, I feel almost 100% and got back in the groove today by riding 3 miles. I’m looking forward to the weekend when I can get back into doing everything I missed doing last week. And for next week, I’ll see about posting a few pictures so you can see the results so far.
That’s it. Hope you all are doing well and see you next Tuesday, hopefully with results that aren’t as bad as I think they will be!
Weekly Weigh-In, Week 5

Hey all. It’s Week 5 and I can already tell these results aren’t going to be good. So with that out of the way…
Weekly Weigh-In for May 15, 2018: 237.2 lbs.
Loss/Gain for the week: +0.4 lbs.
Total lost: 7.6 lbs.
Weekly average loss: 1.5 lbs.
While not exactly promising, there’s still 39 weeks left and if I can average that 1 pound per week, I’ll be just under 200 lbs. by my 50th. Still a realistic goal.
But let’s break this week down even further.
Weekend exercise: None because I was once again busy with the family. I took my son to the Dodger game on Saturday and we took all the moms to lunch on Sunday, Mother’s Day. I will be back on it this weekend for sure.
Food: On Saturday night and I had my usual Dodger Dog and fries. No complaints there — I really enjoyed them both and what’s a little cheating every now and then, right? Sunday consisted of the Sizzler salad bar where I stuck with a salad and a baked potato but maybe should have just had the salad. Then again it was Mother’s Day and moms will wonder if you’re feeling okay if you’re not eating.
I’m still sticking with the egg for breakfast and have since tried cereal for a day and it just didn’t feel right. Cereal seems to be much more compulsive to me in that you can’t chew it the way you can a more solid food since it’s sort of already making its way down your throat by the time you reach 10 chews (yes, I’m counting how many times I chew). That said, you can see how unsatisfying it really can be.
On the other hand, here’s something that’s been working for me as a suitable lunch: a bag of beef jerky. Although a little high on sodium, most beef jerky is low in fat and very high in protein. With the bags I’ve been eating, that’s about 240 calories, 4.5g fat and 30g protein per bag (at three servings per bag). Plus it takes a lot of chewing to break that jerky down to a smaller size. Alternating between that and the tuna, my lunches at work have been pretty satisfying.
So okay, let’s get last week behind us and start on fresh this week. Hitting that reset button right NOW with no regrets.
See you next week 🙂
