The results are in!

  • Weekly Weigh-In #11: 228.9 lbs.
  • Last week’s weight: 230.7 lbs.
  • Gain/loss of: -1.8 lbs.
  • Weekly average lost: 2.2 lbs.

I’m down almost 2 lbs. for the week so I’m pretty happy about that. It’s not exactly where I want to be but hey, it’s definitely not a gain, either.

On the exercise front I continue to spend at least 30-45 minutes a night doing Wii Fit aerobics, yoga and strength training. I avoid the balance games because they are, for all intents and purposes, pretty dull. I know I said I’d try this for a week instead of the sit-ups but I think I’m going to stick with this one a while.

Speaking of physical activity, I’ve given up on the Ab-Lounge. I tried it for a week and realized that it didn’t work as well as real sit-ups (duh) and didn’t seem to help me lose anything. So it’s now hanging from a hook in the garage waiting for somebody to take it. Any takers? Maybe I’ll eBay it as “The Official Ab-Lounge Used on 200by40!!! L@@K!!! ONE OF A KIND!!!

Um, maybe not.

And since I’m sticking to the Wii Fit thing, I’ve chopped my daily walk from 1.5 miles to 1 mile (for the time being). I figure since I’m doing the extra 30-45 minutes per night of sweating, walking up to the sixth floor of my office building and staying busy with the kid when I get home, it’s not going to hurt me much.

Food…yes, that. I’m still keeping everything under control and today’s lunch–or last night’s dinner–feels like it will sustain me for the rest of the day. In fact I’m very full and may only have a banana between now and the time I have dinner.

And you see those links at the bottom of this post (and each one from this point forward)? It’s something I started yesterday. Clicking on one of those will allow you to “sociaally” bookmark each post and send to friends, keep, etc. I figured that might help me get a few more hits on ye olde blog and maybe get the word out to those who might be struggling a little.

That’s all for now. I’m going to make a prediction for Weekly Weigh-In #12: 225.9 lbs. That’s 3 lbs. to lose in a week’s time. That’ll get me closer to the low 220s and from there, the 210s await me. Not only that, it’ll easily take me over the 70 lbs. lost mark.

I’m trying to think of the right words here.

Annoyed? Probably. Disappointed? Most assuredly.

P***ed off? Oh, definitely.

It seems I’ve reached a wall that I haven’t been able to climb over yet, and that would be the 230 lb. mark. Granted the trip to Las Vegas didn’t help matters but that’s been nearly a week. I guess what it equates to is me working hard and in my mind not seeing results, when I have actually been working to lose those pounds I gained while away for a few days. So in a cosmic sort of way things are working out fine, but it doesn’t seem like they are.

Then there’s today when a group of us are going to lunch and then Ann and I are going on a date. (Yes, married couples can still do that!) I’m hoping to keep my eating under control in both instances and wake up feeling a bit lighter, even if both occasions will cut into my exercising (lunchtime walk and nightly sit-ups, respectively).

Additionally, this Sunday we will be celebrating Mother’s Day a week late because of our trip last weekend. There will be more food for that event. This is going to be a fun few days.

And I’ve also noticed that I have not been stating a goal weight in my Weekly Weigh-Ins which had become part of those posts. Those are what generally keep me motivated and the lack of one has taken a psychological toll. So allow me to do it now.

By the next weigh-in, I will be at 230.5 lbs. That’s not exactly cracking the 230 lbs. mark but it’s pretty close (and it’s 2 lbs. lost for the week). I will also find ways to keep myself busy this weekend so that it will count as exercising, and will continue to do the Ab-Lounge thing.

We’ll see how things are by next Tuesday, when I’m hoping for some good results.

Don’t Eat Those Muffins!

If you’re watching your weight then for God’s sake, don’t eat those Costco muffins!

Today was Bagel and Muffin Day at work as is every second Wednesday of the month. While the temptation to eat a muffin was indeed great, I opted for the Asiago Cheese bagel and Weight Watchers cream cheese–9 Points total–and a glass of Rice Dream.

The bagels are bought from Noah’s and if you haven’t had them, they are tasty. The muffins, on the other hand, are purchased in bulk from Costco and while they do look mighty tempting, you just gotta say “no” to them.

After returning to my desk I decided to look up the nutritional value of those Kirkland Signature muffins. Here’s what I found out, and I’m glad I passed on them (Weight Watchers Points are in bold):

  • Almond Poppy Muffin (670 cal, 38 g fat, 2g fiber) 16.5
  • Blueberry Muffin (610 cal, 32 g fat, 2 g fiber) 14.5
  • Chocolate Muffin (690 cal, 38 g fat, 3 g fiber) 16.5
  • Orange Cranberry Muffin (690 cal, 38 g fat, 3 g fiber) 16.5

Wow. Just wow. That’s an average of 665 calories and 36.5g of fat per muffin. At this rate, the fiber content doesn’t even matter. So if you ever come across one of those things, don’t walk away from it–RUN!

And after literally at least a year of sitting in our shed, I dragged the Ab-Lounge out of retirement. You see, we cleaned out our garage last weekend and how have room to park the car in there. I still don’t believe it, either. I think we’re the only ones on the block that can do that.

Anyway, I now have room to use the Ab-Lounge once again and when done, hang it from a hook on the wall. And let me say this: after not using it for a while, it hurts.

Finally, I’m not really sure how to categorize these (as Victories or Milestones). But here’s a few things I’ve noticed lately:

  • My new belt, which I started on the fourth notch, is now up to the sixth notch!
  • My size 42 pants are slowly getting baggy!
