With less than 1,300 hits, 60 posts (as of this one), 28 categories and 80 tags, I was beginning to wonder if all this effort was going to waste.

But within those numbers–I’m thinking it was a recent product review–was something that a PR firm representing Kraft Foods liked and thought was worth writing to me about.

Here’s the story. I checked my e-mail today and after sifting through the usual spam, I came across an e-mail that, in all honesty, I was about to mark as spam.

But it was a good thing I didn’t.

The missive was from a representative at the aforementioned PR firm informing me that Kraft Foods has launched a new line of South Beach Living food products, and they were willing to send me samples of them all in exchange for an honest review of each. My never-to-be-humble reviews would then be posted right here for all of my readers to enjoy. (Note: I’ve already tried a few of these items and yes, they are very good.)

I replied, happily agreeing to the deal. I also sent my mailing address so they know where to send the goods. I needed a change from the meals I’d been packing for lunch anyhow.

So let’s do a quick review: Me, some dude with a weight loss blog, getting food samples from the world’s largest PR firm made by the world’s second-largest food and beverage company.

Wow. This is nuts, people. Can somebody please explain to me what the heck just happened?

Anyhow, that’s what I’ve got so far. I’ll be watching for the UPS/FedEX/Airborne Express/DHL truck in the coming days, delivering my box of foodstuffs. And of course, you’ll see everything here.

Stay tuned for more information. This should be good!

Weekly Weigh-In #12

Ready for Week #12? Here we go!

  • Weekly Weigh-In #12: 224.3 lbs.
  • Last week’s weight: 228.9 lbs.
  • Gain/loss of: 4.6 lbs.
  • Weekly average lost: 2.3 lbs.

Tough week but not for weight loss. Well, let me rephrase that.

As mentioned in a previous post I had gastroenteritis this last week, which meant I pretty much lived in the bathroom and couldn’t do any sudden movements for fear of an um..accident. Yeah, it was a lovely week.

But even before that I was on the right track with what I was eating. I kept my Points on-target and didn’t snack one bit. And despite not exercising or playing Wii Fit, I stayed busy all week (with what limited activities I could do), which makes up for the exercising I couldn’t do.

All in all I’d say I did alright this week considering my circumstances. I’m now back to eating regularly and of course, drinking plenty of liquids to hydrate myself for everything I lost over the week.

I made it my goal to be at 225.9 lbs. this weigh-in and it appears I’ve surpassed that a little, “thanks” to that illness I had. But I definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Next week’s target: 221.3 lbs. That’s another 3 lbs.

Wish me luck and see you soon!

Losing It the Wrong Way

Since last Tuesday evening, I’ve been battling what I believe to be a case of gastroenteritis. The last time I had something like this was shortly after I attended our company’s Christmas party in 2006, where my doctor believed I contracted a virus from the food we had that night.

As a result, and not to get into details, I pretty much can’t keep food in me and constantly need to be hydrated. I have also not exercised since I contracted this and won’t until I feel better. But it’s not like I feel entirely bad; I just don’t want to eat anything and have ill side-effects soon afterwards.

Even though weight has been coming off, it hasn’t been a lot of fun losing it this way.
