Update on Things

Hey gang, just thought I’d update you on my progress so far.
Food. Since reaching my goal last Saturday, things have been going fantastic. In fact, today is the first day I didn’t use my Weight Watchers Points Excel chart since I created the thing. I’ve decided to stop using it since after over two years, I pretty much know how many Points are in everything I eat, or I just simply avoid the things I know I shouldn’t be eating. I’m keeping my snacking to a minimum and whenever I feel the urge to munch on something, I grab a bottle of water instead or have one cookie rather than a handful.
Weight. My weight has been right around 199.8 lbs. and 201 lbs. and that’s just fine with me. I may have gone as high as 202 lbs. but as long as I don’t drift any higher than that I think I’ll be fine. As previously stated, I plan on getting down to 190 lbs. or so that I have some wiggle room between that and my original goal of 200 lbs. but for now, I’m happy being able to maintain my goal weight.
Exercise. Aside from some walking and running around I did with the kid at Disneyland, my exercise routine has been put aside since reaching my goal. My Wii Fit may start missing me 🙂 No, I’m not getting lazy; I’m simply enjoying my achievement and being able to finally take it easy at night after putting Anthony to bed. And because I took Friday and Monday off from work, I haven’t walked my daily 1.5 miles during lunch. That will change tomorrow when I return.
It seems as though my years of food discipline have truly paid off as I find myself not wanting a lot of the foods I used to eat or eating much less of them. For example, we had Little Caesar’s today for lunch and I had only two slices. That’s it–two slices versus the usual 3 or 4 I would have eating when I was nearly 300 lbs.
And for what it’s worth, here’s a progress picture of me taken at Disneyland the day I reached my goal:
It may not show the best example of my weight loss but hey, at least it was taken on the day of victory.
In addition to all of this, I’ve decided to abandon the Weekly Weigh-Ins simply because there wouldn’t be much to report if I keep maintaining my weight. I’ll definitely keep watching my weight and will report as needed but for now, they are history.
Once again, thanks to all who have been checking in on things. I am still in the process of getting my products Thank You List together so watch for that soon.
See ya, and hang in there!

Well…here goes nothing!
- Weekly Weigh-In #22: 208.7 lbs.
- Last week’s Weigh-In: 209.8 lbs.
- Gain/loss of: -1.1 lbs.
- Weekly average lost: 2.0 lbs.
- Weight loss for August: 4.2 lbs.
- Weight loss to date: 88.3 lbs.
As usual, a loss beats a gain any day although I admit being at 207.5 lbs. earlier in the week. The lack of exercise definitely played a role in that but it’s back to the grind tonight.
Okay, so let’s see. I’m hoping to lose the remaining 8.7 lbs. before my vacation starts in 8 weeks. That’s just a little over 1 lb. per week. Easy, man, too easy. But I won’t get too confident about it just yet. A lot can happen between now and then so while it’s simple to sit here and say it will be simple, who knows what the next two months will bring.
In a bit of somber news, I hurts me to report that my doctor is recovering from surgery for the removal of a brain tumor. I found this out when I called to schedule a routine physical today, and I’m saddened by the news. He was the one that motivated me to start taking control of my weight after he uttered those words that rang in my ears. If not for his input and those words of motivation, I would be nowhere near where I am today on the scale.
Dr. Sonne, I pray for your speedy recovery and hereby dedicate my remaining weight loss, subsequent body conditioning, and a lifetime of eating right and exercising to your honor. It’s the least I can do for the man that dedicated his life to the welfare of others.
Thank you for kicking me into place, and here’s hoping I see you back in the office real soon. You’re awesome.

Weekly Weigh-In #21

I think I did good!
- Weekly Weigh-In #21: 209.8 lbs.
- Last week’s Weigh-In: 212.1 lbs.
- Gain/loss of: -2.3 lbs.
- Weekly average lost: 2.0 lbs.
- Weight loss for August: 3.1 lbs.
- Weight loss to date: 87.2 lbs.
Last week was a bit strange. The weight pretty much dropped the first few days and then it sort of stayed that way. I suppose I could have dropped a bit more if I tried a little harder but I was satisfied with the loss within those two days and decided to maintain it rather than push it further. But hey, 2.3 lbs. is not bad indeed.
It was a good week for eating, too. As you’ll see in the previous posts, I went out of my way to eat healthy stuff and even splurge a bit with my hot dog. There were no trips to any fast food joints save for my usual Thursday visit to Subway.
Even though I’m inching ever closer to my goal, I’ve made a few changes to my stats (again). The second bullet has been changed to “Last Week’s Weigh-In” instead of “Last Week’s Weight”. Just something that started to bug me. And because I am using my Weight Tracker iPod Touch app, I’ve also added “Weight Loss for [month]”. Those should be the last changes I make to the stats area–should be 🙂
Admittedly, I took a night off from Wii Fit last night as I was just dead tired. I needed a break to watch some of the Olympics, which is probably the most TV I’ve watched in a long time. (GO USA!) Despite last night’s laziness, Wii Fit continues to be a mainstay of my routine.
Finally, at long last, I have decided to bring back the Weight Watchers Points Excel Chart. The term is still popular: well over 600 search queues and nearly 1,000 page hits on this post. With such popularity, I would imagine people are a bit disappointed when they realize it’s not there.
So who am I to disappoint?
At any rate, you can now get it by going to my Google Docs page. This is a direct link to the file and it will download it immediately. You will be downloading the file only. Nothing else. Seriously.
The details (from last update):
- You can now use one chart for the entire week! Each chart contains sheets from Monday-Friday so that you don’t have all that clutter of creating one each day.
- You now have a Points Bank that automatically generates the total of reserve Points! Try and keep a few Points in the Bank each day so that you can treat yourself on a job well done by the time the weekend comes around!
- As usual, the chart is completely customizable so you can do whatever you wish to it. It would be a good idea to keep a copy of the original handy in case you mess things up.
- Google Docs isn’t the most robust gadget in the world and you’ll notice that some things didn’t quite work the way they should have, such as having your reserve numbers in red. I tried many times to correct this and only became frustrated so you’ll have to fix it yourself or live with it 😛
But please, guys, by downloading it you understand and agree to the following:
- This Excel chart comes without warranty or guarantee.
- I will not be held responsible for any damage it may cause to your computer. Chances are it won’t but I want to have all the bases covered here.
- I am not Tech Support; please don’t e-mail me with questions as they will be deleted. You’re pretty much on your own with it.
- Don’t ask me where you downloaded it. I simply won’t know.
Got all of that? Good. Go and enjoy it!
Note: The information on the Excel chart was gathered online from various sources. It may have been updated since the author complied the information and is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. This chart has not been endorsed or approved by Weight Watchers.

South Beach Items Arrived
2008/06/13 at 10:16 pm | Posted in Food, Health, lifestyle change, South Beach Products | 3 CommentsTags: diets don't work, lifestyle change, south beach living products, weight, weight loss, weight loss blog, weight watchers, weight watchers points excel chart
As promised, my box of South Beach Living products arrived via UPS! Here’s what was inside:
- Oven Roasted Ham & Swiss Hot Sandwich Melt
- Turkey Santa Fe Hot Sandwich Melt
- Dark Chocolate Vanilla Marble pudding cups (pack of 4)
- Hazelnut Creme Wafer Sticks (2 packs with 2 sticks per pack)
- Peanut Butter Wafer Sticks (2 packs with 2 sticks per pack)
Chances are I will take one sandwich, one pudding and one pack of wafer sticks to work on Monday and Tuesday so I can write up a review on three products on the same day. If I happen to munch on any of the items before then, I will naturally post my thoughts here.
I have already calculated the Weight Watchers Points for all of them and I have to say that I’m impressed so far. I think you will be, too.
Many thanks to Lisa Winternitz of Weber Shandwick for offering the products for my review so that my readers can get one person’s opinion about the new line of South Beach Living products. She also offered to send me a new ham sandwich since one of the cold packs in the box burst and lightly splattered the box in funky gelatinous goo. I told there was no need; everything should be fine.
I had a fun day of exercise today. While I skipped the Wii Fit tonight in exchange for some Rock Band, I walked nearly 2 miles at while at work (including walking up 6 flights of stairs). Then when I got home we all went for a bike ride of nearly 4 miles. I figure a combined 6 miles of walking and biking definitely qualifies as today’s exercise. And tomorrow I will be going to the swap meet and will walk at least another mile then.
With Father’s Day on Sunday and my schedule filled for tomorrow, you probably won’t see me for a few days. Have a good weekend and keep things under control because I know you can. If you’re using my Weight Watchers Points Excel chart–it’s now nearing 200 downloads–and it shows you’ve saved up some Points in the Bank, go and enjoy a guilt-free indulgence. You’ve definitely earned it!
See you Monday 🙂

Numbers Game
2008/06/05 at 11:25 am | Posted in Discipline, Exercise, Food, Health, Inspiration, Life, lifestyle change, Milestone, Motivation, Victory, weight loss, weight watchers, Wii, wii fit | Comments Off on Numbers GameTags: diets don't work, lifestyle change, weight, weight loss, weight loss blog, weight watchers, weight watchers points excel chart, weight watchers points program, Wii, wii fit
I thought I’d entertain you all with some numbers that pertain to 200by40, and here they are:
- Over 1,000: Total number of blog hits so far since March, for which I thank each and every one of you! (It’s not that amazing but shows me people are interested.)
- Over 100: Total number of Weight Watchers Points Excel chart downloads so far (both versions)
- Zero: Total number of donations since adding the link. Hey, it had to be said 🙂
But perhaps the most important one of all…
- 70: Total lbs. lost to date!
I feel incredibly thin today and I like it. In fact, I may have to hit Old Navy soon because my 42 pants are starting to get, um, bigger. Ann tells me that they have some men’s jeans on clearance so I may have to check it out this weekend.
Recognition is beginning—finally! A co-worker told me I was starting to “wither away” since my pullover jacket is getting baggier by the day. (Note to self: look for smaller one of those at Old Navy, too.) When I told her I used to weigh nearly 300 lbs. she had to push her eyes back into her head.
I’ve got another post in the works that may hit the blog tonight. It’s about what I had for lunch today and, despite how tempting the food may look because of its ingredients, how you should always read labels when you’re trying to lose weight.
On the exercise front, I think I’ll give the Wii Fit a night off. I need a change, so it’s back to the sit-ups (at least for tonight).
Oh, and Anthony picked out some new, smaller clothes for me as an early Father’s Day gift: size 40 shorts and two XL shirts. I tried them on and yes, they both fit. I’m amazed 🙂
Watch for the other post later. Until then…see ya!
1ST UPDATE: I hope you dig the new template. The place needed a fresh look!
2ND UPDATE: After tinkering with the new template, I realized it cropped my pictures. So I’m back to this one. Sorry…
